Children’s Acrylic Painting Class for grades K-8th
10-11:30 am
$10 per student, all materials provided
Students will develop skills for making expressive paintings based on their experiences working with their natural environment. The subject matter will include still life objects, and their own feelings and emotions. Color, texture, layering techniques and expressive brush work will assist students in emphasizing the descriptive elements in their paintings. Composition and the use of light are essential to understanding how to work with acrylic. Different colors reflect different light and this is important to understanding how to create an expressive painting. Students will learn to see how these elements can be transmitted to their work to create depth and dimension in their paintings. We will be examining the world through their paintings. These experiences working with acrylics will assist students in understanding their own thoughts and feelings while providing them with the necessary skills to tell their stories in their paintings.
